PR Newswire Pricing: What to Ask, Cheaper Options, Is It Worth It

October 2, 2026 By Kevin Mahoney Leave a Comment

The evidence reviewed here does not provide a verified PR Newswire distribution price, so ask PR Newswire for an itemized written quote before you commit. Below you'll find what to ask, what real-world price points look like for a one-time release (ours included), and what a wire release can and can't do.

Does PR Newswire cost money?

PR Newswire's own site invites journalists to its free services, including free ProfNet requests for finding subject-matter experts.

If either provider quotes you a price, get it in writing and make sure you know exactly what it covers.

How does the process work?

  1. You have real news. A launch, partnership, expansion, appointment, funding event or verified award. A discount or a claim to be ‘the best' is not news.
  2. You approve the facts. Names, dates, quotes, media rights and the page readers should visit.
  3. The wire reviews it. Every publisher sets editorial rules and makes the final call on acceptance.
  4. It goes live and may be picked up. Your release appears on the wire's own URL. Other sites may or may not republish it.
  5. You check the report. Compare publisher-reported views with actual visits to your site and with inquiries.

What should you check in any newswire quote?

  • Whether the price is per release or a membership or subscription.
  • Which distribution network the release actually enters, and whether outlets are listed as ‘available' or ‘guaranteed'.
  • What reporting you get afterward, and whether it covers views, clicks and referral sources.
  • Whether writing, editing or resubmission is included or billed separately.
  • What happens if the wire declines your release.
  • Whether the release stays online, and what the provider does if it is removed.

What does a one-time release cost at other providers?

We can't quote PR Newswire or Business Wire prices. Here are the price points we publish for single releases, plus one competitor figure, as a benchmark. Prices as of September 23, 2026; check the checkout for today's. The EIN Presswire figure was checked on September 25, 2026.

Option Distribution only With release writing
Our Signature News (ACCESS Newswire / Newswire route) $495 $890
Our Global Authority (GlobeNewswire) $995 $1,390
Our Complete Market (both routes) $1,295 $1,690
Our Rare Find Advertorial (paid, labeled article, ACCESS/Newswire only) From $1,495, writing included
EIN Presswire Basic plan (self-service) $149 Not applicable

Release writing adds $395 to the general-business packages. There is no retainer, no subscription and no required call. Our terms also say no publication means no distribution charge.

What is the cheapest press release service?

The cheapest sticker price is not always the cheapest outcome. EIN Presswire's $149 Basic plan can be a sensible self-service choice if you have real news and a publisher-ready release. Our Signature distribution costs $346 more. That difference covers route-fit planning, submission preflight, managing publisher communication, and a publication record after acceptance. The two services are different, and neither price guarantees ranking, a particular outlet's pickup, leads or sales.

If your news isn't ready for a paid route, you can run the whole process yourself for free: publish a good page on your own site, then pitch the journalists who cover that topic individually. A wire submission is not a personal pitch to a reporter.

Which is better, PR Newswire or Business Wire?

We can't name a winner from a price list, and any site that does without naming criteria is guessing. Compare them on what matters to your announcement:

  • The audience: financial and investor news, trade news or local news.
  • Reach and network: which destinations the provider lists today.
  • Reporting: what you'll see about views, clicks and sources.
  • Editorial rules: how strict, and how quickly you hear back.
  • Total cost, including add-ons.

For reference, a peer-review comparison on Cuspera notes that a reviewer liked that PR Newswire sends a visibility report after a release. It also notes that Cision's media contact lists can contain outdated information when journalists change jobs. That comparison is mostly about PR software, so don't treat it as a head-to-head on wire pricing.

How much does Business Wire cost?

As for Business Wire's price, ask for a written quote and use the checklist above, so you can compare it fairly with PR Newswire and with the flat prices in the table.

Is PR Newswire or Business Wire worth it?

It's worth it when the news is real, the audience fits that network, and you have a way to measure the result. It isn't worth it as a cheap shortcut to rankings. Google says it recommends helpful, reliable, people-first content. Its spam policies also say paid links that pass ranking credit can violate them. A wire release is an announcement, not a link-building scheme. We won't sell it as one.

Are press releases worth it?

Sometimes. A release gives you a live, public, shareable record of a real event. Whether it produces anything beyond that depends on the news and on factors no vendor controls: downstream pickup, indexing, rankings, readership, traffic, leads and sales.

To show what measurable output can look like, one GlobeNewswire report from one of our campaigns showed 7,956 views, 1,142 unique readers, 203 clicks (4.44% CTR) and 191 crawlers over five days. That is one historical campaign. It is not an average, a minimum or a forecast, and you shouldn't expect it for your release.

GlobeNewswire's current U.S. network lists Yahoo Finance among its destinations, but no specific pickup is guaranteed. ACCESS Newswire describes serving startups and offering single-release options. For how to read an outlet list without assuming pickup, see our guide on reading a newswire outlet list. If your goal is broader search presence, a release is one piece of a larger plan, like the one we describe in brand authority engineering.

Is Newswire liberal or conservative?

A newswire isn't an editorial outlet with a political slant. It distributes announcements that organizations submit. PR Newswire describes its news as a wide array of domestic and global stories, covering topics from politics and government to business, health and sports. Each release reflects the viewpoint of whoever issued it, and the publisher's rules govern format and tone, not politics. A release is paid commercial distribution, not independent reporting or an endorsement.

What if you want us to handle it?

If you have a real announcement and want help with route choice, submission and a documented result, see our press release distribution pricing. We check eligibility before you pay. The publisher decides acceptance, and downstream sites and search engines decide pickup, display and ranking.

Before you order

  • Ask any provider for an itemized written quote, per release or membership.
  • Ask what reporting you get, and whether it breaks out clicks and referral sources.
  • Ask what happens if the release is declined or later removed.
  • Read the provider's current content rules before you finalize copy.
  • Set your success measure first: referral visits, inquiries or a public proof point.
