Distributing a press release costs from about $21 on a low-cost plan to about $1,690 for a managed two-route package with writing included. The right route depends on who you need to reach, and the process is the same either way: a real news event, approved facts, the right destination, and proof afterward. No route can guarantee pickup, rankings or sales.

How much does it cost to distribute a press release?
Prices below are as shown on the pages captured October 31, 2026, except EIN Presswire’s $149, which MBK’s pricing page says was checked September 25, 2026. Prices change, so confirm today’s price with each provider before you buy.
| Provider or plan | Price as stated | Source of the price |
|---|---|---|
| MBK Signature News | $495 distribution; $890 with release production | MBK pricing page |

| IssueWire Tier 1 | $21 for 145+ outlets | IssueWire FAQ |
| IssueWire Tier 2 | $45 for 195+ affiliates | IssueWire FAQ |

MBK’s optional release production is $395, and the “with release production” prices above include it. Ask every other provider whether writing is included. Treat all of these as ballparks, and ask for a written quote that lists the route, the outlets, the writing, the revisions and the refund terms. evaluate a press release distribution quote line shows how to go through one line by line.
What is the best way to distribute a press release?
Start with the news and the audience, then choose the route. Our own do-it-yourself outline runs in this order:
- Finish one release built on a real news event. Confirm the facts, the quote, the dates, the media contact and the URL readers should visit. Keep the exact approved version.
- Publish a page you control that explains the news. A wire link does not replace your own page.
- Choose the route by audience. For a local event, list the newsrooms, calendars and partners that cover that kind of news. For a wider announcement, compare wire routes on eligible subjects, geographic reach, price, reporting and publisher review.
- Pitch reporters one at a time when the story fits their beat. A wire submission is not a personal pitch. press release distribution versus journalist pitching explains the difference.
- Save the proof: the live publisher URL, the publication time, any distribution report, and any direct replies from journalists.
- Review the results after 7 and 30 days against the goal you set before publishing.
Distribution gets the release to publisher systems. It does not make a reporter write about it, and a syndicated copy is not the same as a reporter-written article. For a local announcement, our local press release distribution guide covers the local angle in more detail.
What is the best press release distribution service?
No single service is best for every business. Compare them on four things: audience, what the price includes, the proof you get, and who decides acceptance.
- Audience. PR Newswire’s homepage says it can “Reach 500K+ media outlets, newsrooms and influencers worldwide.” That is PR Newswire’s own description. GlobeNewswire’s own page says its U.S. network lists Yahoo Finance among its destinations, and no particular pickup is guaranteed. MBK’s Signature route runs through ACCESS Newswire and Newswire, and MBK’s Global Authority route runs through GlobeNewswire.
- What the price includes. Ask whether writing, review, submission management and reporting are in the number. MBK’s pricing page says EIN Presswire’s Basic plan includes distribution, editorial review and a report. It describes MBK’s Signature route as adding goal and route-fit planning, submission preflight, publisher-route management and a Publication Record after acceptance.
- Proof. Ask what you receive after publication. MBK’s Publication Record includes the accepted copy, live wire URLs, reported pickup links and the completion date. Ask other providers the same question in writing.
- Acceptance. The publisher decides. MBK’s service terms say ACCESS may hold, request changes to, or refuse content, and that its editors make the final decision.
IssueWire’s homepage calls its placement “guaranteed.” Before you buy on that basis, ask in writing which outlets are named. No provider controls which outlets pick up a release.
MBK says it recommends a paid route only when it believes the announcement has a credible path to measurable visibility. If the news is not strong enough, its pricing page says the right answer is to improve it, choose a better fit, or decline the order before taking payment. Use that test on any provider: ask whether they would tell you not to buy.
On MBK’s managed routes, we prepare the release for the route, submit it, handle publisher communication and document what was published. You remain responsible for the copy and the claims.
Is there free press release distribution for a small business?
Some providers offer a first release free. IssueWire’s homepage says “Post Your First PR FREE,” so check what that post includes and which outlets it reaches before you publish. Plan the rest of the work yourself: publish on your own site and pitch reporters one at a time, as the steps above show. For a budget-first route, cheap press release distribution lists what to check.
Our free eligibility review confirms your news qualifies before you pay anything. Our distribution packages start at $495.
What can a press release distribution service not promise?
A service controls the submission, not the result. MBK’s services page lists these as things nobody controls: which downstream sites pick up the story, search rankings or indexing, backlinks from third-party publications, traffic, leads or sales, and independent journalist coverage. MBK’s service terms add that downstream pickup, permanence, indexing, search position, readership, clicks, journalist interest, leads and sales “vary and are not guaranteed.”
Two Google pages matter here. Google’s spam policies say that paid links passing ranking credit can violate them. Google’s guidance on helpful content recommends helpful, reliable, people-first content, so write the release for the reader who needs the news.
Distribution also spreads whatever you send, accurate or not. A 2021 review on press-released trial data, published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, said clinicians and researchers must maintain “a healthy scepticism” about results released before peer review. Your facts need the same checking before they leave your desk.
What happens if the publisher does not accept the release?
MBK’s press release service terms set out the remedy, and it depends on who wrote the copy. Read the full terms before you pay.
| Your situation | What the service terms say |
|---|---|
| Your own copy is declined | You may revise and resubmit within the active project window, or request a full refund of the distribution charge (Section 7). |
| Eligible MBK-produced copy cannot be accepted on the purchased route | MBK makes reasonable compliant corrections and resubmits without another production charge. If acceptance still cannot be obtained, MBK refunds the complete production-and-distribution amount for that release (Section 6). |
| Release is accepted and published | The distribution service has been performed, and the distribution charge is not refundable (Section 7). |
| Primary publisher URL is removed within 12 months | You must notify MBK during the 12-month period. MBK resubmits the accepted release once through the same or a comparable eligible route, with no additional distribution-management charge (Section 10A). |
| Delays or ineligibility caused by you | Refund protection does not cover false or incomplete intake, missing authorization, fabricated or unsupported facts, a change to the announcement after work begins, or failure to approve or respond. If MBK has not submitted the release, any unearned distribution amount is returned (Section 8). |
MBK’s pricing page also says “No publication, no distribution charge.”
What not to include in a press release?
A release is news, not an ad. MBK’s service terms say a standard release must be a factual company announcement, not an advertisement or a general-interest sales article. The headline should state a real, timely news event, and the company should be identified near the top. Leave these out:
- Direct sales language outside an approved quotation, including first-person or direct-address pitches.
- Inflated claims, exclamation marks and all-caps emphasis.
- Keyword stuffing, or claims written only to attract search traffic.
- Facts, numbers or quotes you cannot support or have not authorized.
- Copy that has already been published as the same release.
A persuasive, article-style story is a different product. MBK’s Rare Find Advertorial is a separate, labeled paid format, not a way to run promotional copy as a news release.
Can ChatGPT write a press release?
A tool can draft one, but the finished text is what gets reviewed. MBK’s service terms require copy that is original and objective, with facts, numbers, quotations and links that are accurate, supportable, authorized and current. The publisher then decides whether to accept it. Check every fact, quote and claim against your own records before you submit, no matter what drafted the text.
PR Newswire’s homepage describes AI tools that can “craft high quality press releases, in your brand voice.” That is PR Newswire’s own description. If you need writing and distribution together, press release writing and distribution covers both.
How far in advance should I send out a press release?
Set the send date after your facts and copy are approved, and leave room for publisher review. MBK’s services page advises that, before a seasonal peak, you “Allow time for publisher review and discovery.” IssueWire’s homepage says its editorial team takes less than 24 hours to review a release, which is IssueWire’s own figure. MBK’s service terms say customer changes and publisher revisions extend the timeline, so ask every provider for its review time in writing.
MBK’s service terms also say timing starts only after payment, complete intake, eligibility clearance and receipt of every required source and permission. Requested dates are targets until MBK confirms the route and production window in writing. Build your date around that confirmation. For more on choosing the date, read press release timing.
When should you move to a paid route?
Move when you have a real announcement, approved facts and a clear reader you want to reach. Our press release distribution services page covers the routes and the eligibility check. Disclosure: Marketing By Kevin sells the MBK routes described in this article. After acceptance, you receive a Publication Record with the accepted copy, live URLs and the completion date.
