Most owners ask the same thing first: what does ACCESS Newswire distribution cost, and what do you actually get for it? Here is the plain answer. You pay to have one real company announcement submitted to ACCESS Newswire, and if the publisher accepts it, it goes live on a URL you can share. It does not promise pickup by other sites, search rankings, traffic or sales.
Disclosure: Marketing By Kevin sells the distribution packages described on this page, so this guide covers our own service as well as ACCESS Newswire.

What is newswire distribution?
Newswire distribution means sending a finished press release to a wire service, which passes it to news sites, databases and syndication networks. The release goes out as a formal company announcement. It is not a personal email to a reporter. Our own do-it-yourself guide puts it this way: a newswire and a journalist pitch are different jobs, and you should choose either or both on purpose. For the pitch side, read press release distribution versus journalist pitching.
What is ACCESS Newswire, and is it legitimate?
Yes, it is a real company. ACCESS Newswire Inc., formerly Issuer Direct Corporation, is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. A third-party company profile from VectorShift Research, updated August 12, 2026, describes it as a communications company that offers press release distribution, media monitoring and webcasting. That profile lists the stock ticker as ACCS. For a current share price, check a live quote on a financial site; this guide covers the distribution service only.
ACCESS's own ACCESS press release distribution page says the company serves startups and supports single-release options. That is the kind of order this guide covers: one announcement, one route.
How does ACCESS Newswire distribution work, step by step?
- Check eligibility first. Our free eligibility review confirms your news qualifies before you pay anything.
- Choose your path. Bring publisher-ready copy, or add search-led release production for $395 at general-business rates. Route planning and managed submission follow either path.
- Submission and review. We submit the release through ACCESS Newswire. The publisher reviews it and accepts or declines it. ACCESS's editors make the final call.
- Publication record. After acceptance you receive the accepted copy, the live URL or URLs, the completion date, any pickup links that can be reported, and available route analytics. 12-month deletion protection is included.
Service timing starts only after payment is verified, intake is complete, eligibility is cleared, and every required source and permission is in hand. Requested dates are targets until we confirm the route and production window in writing. Customer changes and publisher revisions extend the timeline. If you have a launch date in mind, read press release timing before you lock it in.
What ACCESS will accept
ACCESS sets the editorial rules for releases on its route. We do not make or waive them. A standard release must be a factual company announcement, not an advertisement. Before you submit, check that:
- The headline states a real, timely news event, and the company is named near the top.
- You have a valid media-contact email. Some routes also ask for a contact name, phone number, executive authorization or supporting documents.
- The tone is objective and news-style. First-person and sales language belongs only inside approved quotes. Avoid inflated claims, exclamation marks and all-caps.
- Facts, numbers, quotes, rights and links are accurate, authorized and current, and the copy is original.
- Search planning shapes the angle. It does not permit keyword stuffing or claims written only to attract search traffic.
Strong fits include a real launch, partnership, expansion, appointment, award, report, funding event or company milestone. For a persuasive, article-style story, the Rare Find Advertorial is a separate, labeled paid format. It is not a way to run a sales message as news.

What can ACCESS Newswire distribution do, and what can it not do?
Our service terms split the work three ways. The table shows who controls what.
| Who | What they control |
|---|---|
| You | Facts, authorization, sources, quote approval, media rights, timely replies and final copy approval |
| MBK | Search planning, release production when you buy it, formatting, route preparation, submission management, revisions and the publication record |
| Publishers and platforms | Acceptance, labels, presentation, downstream pickup, retention, indexing, rankings and audience response |
The service does not promise pickup by any particular site, search rankings or indexing, backlinks from third-party publications, traffic, leads, sales or journalist coverage. For Global Authority, GlobeNewswire's U.S. network lists Yahoo Finance among its destinations, as its GlobeNewswire distribution page states. No particular pickup is guaranteed.
On backlinks: we do not sell ranking credit. Google's spam policies say paid links that pass ranking credit can violate them. Google's guidance on helpful content recommends people-first writing. A release should read that way for reporters and readers.
Are ACCESS Newswire distribution reviews reliable?
The ACCESS comparison post dated November 8, 2024, which sets ACCESS against Business Wire, is the company's own marketing. It says customers appreciate its affordability, ease of use and support. The same post calls it a go-to for small to mid-sized businesses. Read that as the company's view of itself.
For your own check, ask any provider for a recent live publisher URL, then open it. Look at the date, the byline and the copy readers actually see. Our guide on what a distribution report shows is here: press release distribution report actually prove.
What happens if my release is declined, and how do refunds work?
These rows follow our press release service terms. They cover the cases most buyers ask about.
| Situation | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Your own copy is declined (distribution-only order) | You can revise and resubmit within the active project window, or request a full refund of the distribution charge. |
| The release is accepted and published on the route you bought | The distribution charge is not refundable, because the service has been performed. |
| An MBK-produced release cannot be accepted on the purchased route after reasonable compliant corrections | MBK refunds the complete production-and-distribution amount paid for that release. The terms call this the Publisher Acceptance Guarantee. It covers publisher acceptance only, not pickup, rankings or traffic. |
| MBK has not submitted the release | Any unearned distribution amount is returned. Completed production work may remain chargeable in proportion to the agreed scope. |
| Delays or ineligibility caused by the customer, such as incomplete intake, missing authorization, unsupported facts, or changing the announcement after work begins | Refund protection does not apply. |
| The primary publisher URL is removed within 12 months of publication | MBK resubmits the release once through the same or a comparable eligible route, with no added distribution-management charge. You must notify MBK within the 12 months and provide the original order or publication reference. |
Can I distribute my press release myself?
Yes. You do not need an agency to send your own announcement. You need a real news event, approved facts, a relevant destination and a way to tell what happened afterward. This is the order we would follow:
- Finish and approve one release. Confirm names, dates, claims, quotes, media rights and the URL people should visit. Keep a copy of the exact approved version.
- Publish a useful page on your own site that explains the event and lets the right reader act. A wire URL does not replace a page you control.
- Choose the route by audience. For a local event, list local newsrooms, calendars, trade associations and partners. For a durable public announcement, compare paid wire routes on subject fit, geographic scope, current price, reporting and publisher review.
- Pitch reporters individually where the story fits their beat. A wire submission is not a personal pitch.
- Read the provider's live content rules and submit the exact approved release. Acceptance on one route is not approval on another.
- Save proof: the live publisher URL, the publication time, any distribution report and any direct journalist replies.
- Review the results after 7 and 30 days. Compare your site's referral visits and qualified inquiries with the goal you set before publishing.
The upload itself is the easy part. The eligibility check, the route choice, the publisher back-and-forth and the proof tracking take most of the time. If those steps are worth more of your time than your project budget, we can run them for you through our press release distribution services page. You still approve the copy, facts and final release.
