Business Wire Pricing: Costs vs PR Newswire, EIN and More

October 5, 2026 By Kevin Mahoney Leave a Comment

Business Wire does not post a public price list. You request a quote, and the price depends on your release. One PR professional's published figures put a national release at $940 for the first 400 words, plus $195 for each additional 100 words and $425 for multimedia. Treat those numbers as a ballpark and get a written quote for your own news.

How much does Business Wire cost?

Business Wire pricing is not readily available on its website, according to The SMB Guide's Business Wire review. That review says you fill out the company's contact form for a custom quote. A LinkedIn comparison by a PR professional gives the figures above, and says Business Wire is on the pricier side and that the cost can be a barrier for smaller businesses.

A comparison published by NewswireJet describes Business Wire's model as pay-per-release pricing that changes with distribution lists, word count and multimedia, plus editorial support and reporting. That matches the LinkedIn breakdown. Your final bill is the base release plus whatever you add.

How much does PR Newswire cost?

The same LinkedIn comparison gives these PR Newswire figures:

  • An annual fee of $195.
  • $805 for the first 400 words of national distribution.
  • $245 for each additional 100 words.
  • $495 to include a logo.
  • $325 for multimedia attachments.

The SMB Guide says that with both Business Wire and PR Newswire you contact the company for a custom quote. Prices shift, so use these as a way to compare structures, not as a quote. We also have a separate page on PR Newswire pricing and what to ask.

How do the main options compare on price?

Service Published price signals Where it comes from
Business Wire Custom quote. Example: $940 for 400 words nationally, $195 per extra 100 words, $425 multimedia SMB Guide; LinkedIn comparison
PR Newswire $195 annual fee, $805 for 400 words nationally, $245 per extra 100 words, $495 logo, $325 multimedia LinkedIn comparison
GlobeNewswire Varies by region, length and volume. Quotes for US national releases with unlimited words and attachments: $7,200 for 12 releases, $8,500 for 15, $10,700 for 20 LinkedIn comparison
ACCESSWIRE $175 per release (as listed April 2024) SMB Guide
EIN Presswire $149 Basic plan, covering distribution, editorial review and a report Our pricing page, competitor price checked September 25, 2026

These services also differ in network, reporting and rules, so compare the scope along with the dollar figure.

What makes a Business Wire quote go up or down?

  • Word count. The base price covers the first 400 words in the figures above, and each extra 100 words adds a charge.
  • Distribution lists and region. National, global and industry-targeted circuits are priced differently.
  • Multimedia and logos. Images and attachments are separate line items on the published examples.
  • Add-ons. Translation and regulatory filing are options NewswireJet says these platforms offer.

NewswireJet's advice is to get a quote for the same news, territory, assets and deadline from each provider so the numbers are comparable. I agree with that.

Is Business Wire trustworthy?

Yes. It is an established wire service with a long track record. The SMB Guide reports a 4.1-star rating on G2 from more than 180 reviews, where users were generally satisfied but many found it costly. It also reports an average of 9.2 out of 10 on TrustRadius, with reviewers praising the interface and post-release reporting. A B2Press comparison also calls it credible for corporate communications, investor relations and financial announcements.

Trust in the provider is not the same as results for you. A wire service delivers your release to its network. It cannot make a reporter write about it.

Is Business Wire owned by Berkshire Hathaway?

Yes. The SMB Guide says Berkshire Hathaway acquired Business Wire in 2006.

How credible is PR Newswire?

Credible. The SMB Guide calls PR Newswire and Business Wire both reputable, with extensive reach and features such as detailed reports, translations and social posting. The LinkedIn comparison describes PR Newswire as having a very large network, with 440,000+ media outlets and 270,000+ journalists by the author's count, and calls it the most reliable choice for a primarily US audience. That is one professional's view, so weigh it as such.

Which is better, PR Newswire or Business Wire?

It depends on your announcement. Here is how the sources describe each one:

  • The LinkedIn author says Business Wire suits longer releases with more links and a logo, targets industry audiences well, and is a good fit for financial disclosures.
  • The same author says PR Newswire is best for short releases with wide US reach.
  • B2Press says Business Wire is commonly used for investor relations and regulatory disclosure.

If you are a listed company with disclosure obligations, that points toward the traditional wires. If you are a small business with a product launch or local milestone, the premium price may not buy you anything you need.

How much does EIN Presswire cost, and is it worth it?

Our own pricing page lists EIN Presswire's Basic plan at $149, covering distribution, editorial review and a report (competitor price and scope checked September 25, 2026; confirm current terms before buying). We think it can be a sensible self-service choice if you have real, verifiable news and a publisher-ready release. It is a different product from a managed service, so the cheaper price does not buy the planning and submission management a managed service includes. If the news is thin, no distribution price changes that.

What can wire distribution do, and what can it not do?

A wire release gives you a public, dated, publisher-hosted record of a real announcement. It can be picked up by sites in the network. It cannot guarantee:

  • Pickup by a particular outlet.
  • Independent journalist coverage or endorsement.
  • Search rankings, traffic, leads or sales.

NewswireJet's comparison says neither Business Wire nor eReleases can guarantee that a journalist endorses or independently reports your announcement. It also points to the AMEC measurement framework, which separates outputs (where the release ran) from outcomes (what people did), and to PRSA's code of ethics, which supports precise claims about paid distribution.

Links are a related trap. Google says paid or advertorial links that pass ranking credit can violate its spam policies, and it recommends helpful, reliable, people-first content. So treat a release as a credible public record, not a ranking lever. Anyone who promises rankings from a release is selling something nobody controls.

What do we charge for press release distribution?

We do not resell Business Wire or PR Newswire. We manage submission through ACCESS Newswire and GlobeNewswire. Prices as verified September 23, 2026; check the checkout for today's:

Package Distribution With our release writing
Signature News (ACCESS Newswire route) $495 $890
Global Authority (GlobeNewswire) $995 $1,390
Complete Market (both routes) $1,295 $1,690
Rare Find Advertorial (paid, labeled article) From $1,495, writing included

These are one-time prices with no retainer. Writing adds $395 to a distribution package. If the publisher declines customer-supplied copy, you can revise and resubmit or get the distribution charge back. Publisher acceptance, downstream pickup, rankings, traffic and sales are not guaranteed. Our team recommends a paid route only when we think the announcement has a credible path to visibility. If you want to see the full breakdown and check fit before paying, see our press release distribution pricing page. To prepare, our guide on what to gather before ordering distribution helps, and so does knowing what counts as a verifiable announcement.

Before you order

  • Ask each wire for a written quote covering your word count, regions, images and logo, translation and reporting.
  • Ask whether there is an annual or membership fee on top of the per-release price.
  • Ask what the report shows. Distribution, live pages and independent coverage are different things.
  • Decide whether you need regulatory disclosure or investor-focused reach. If not, a premium wire may not be necessary.
  • Read the provider's current content rules. A release has to be real news, not an advertisement.
